The children have been so excited with everything in school. We have celebrated World Book day, sharing books to read together and have lots of other things planned over the next few weeks. Keep up with the news on our newsletters, through text messages and on Facebook.
We have several parent workshops taking place. Family Arts and Crafts is on a Wednesday morning from 9-11am, Family English on a Tuesday morning again from 9 – 11am and look out for the Cooking class about to start.
Reading afternoons continue on a Thursday at 2.45. The children like it when you can come in and read with them.
Our Friday Award assemblies continue to take place at 9am each Friday. Parents again you are very welcome to come in and join us. The children get certificates for their hard work.
Thank you again for all your support. It’s lovely to see so many of you coming into school regularly.
Monkeys are carrying on with our Let's Pretend topic - listening to lots of traditional stories and then using puppets to help us retell them with our friends. We retold the Three Billy Goats Gruff too well though as some of us were scared by the 'troll monster!' We have also been on a short walk to Mullaco's, and are using what we saw to help us pretend as we play in our Shop too.
Monkeys are looking forward to some nice weather coming as it is supposed to be Spring now - we can't wait to play with our new outdoor equipment when the rain and snow finally stop. We are also visiting the nursery building and making friends with the children and adults in Rabbits as some of us will be leaving Monkeys and moving across after the holidays. We really enjoy this and some of us are sad when it is time to say goodbye to our new friends!
This term the Rabbits and Elephants are learning all about pirates! AAARRRRR!!
We are busy pirates making pirate hats, and sailing the seas looking for treasure in our pirate ship.
The children are looking at different materials that the pirates have found, such as, metal, plastic and wood and sorting them. We have also been looking at a range of stories independently and talking about what happens in them. It will soon be Easter and we will learn about the Easter story and make our baskets, hopefully we will have a visit from the Easter Bunny who will leave us some chocolate eggs in them. Yummy!!
In Bears, we have been learning all about pirates! We have been reading lots of pirate stories and enjoyed finding out all about them, we even wrote what we found out in a report. We have also been looking at some of the places that pirates might like to visit.
In Maths, we have been measuring lots of different objects and describing their length and their height. We have used cubes and rulers and also measured ourselves on the height chart.
We loved having our Mums in for our afternoon tea. We made them a scone each, planted seeds and drew some lovely pictures of them, we were very busy!
We are now looking forward to learning lots more about pirates and taking part in lots of exciting activities before Easter.
In Lions this half term we have already had a busy time. We enjoyed having afternoon tea with our mummies and eating a super breakfast. We are learning how to operate remote control toys which is great fun. In maths we learning how to work out which objects are heavy and light using scales recognising and naming 3d shapes and learning how to do simple addition and subtraction problems. In literacy we are reading lots of traditional fairy stories and even some scary ones! We are practising hard to learn to write captions and simple sentences too. We are looking forward to building a castle in the role play area in our classroom.
Last half term it was really fun being able to show off all the things that we had been learning about to our parents. We have really enjoyed performing poetry especially when we performed the story of Little Red Riding Hood as a poem. The ending was really funny as Little Red pushed a baguette into the Wolf’s mouth.
This term we are going to be learning all about Castles and the Kings and Queens who have lived in them. We are really looking forward to making a royal banquet and enjoying a feast…..we might even learn how to do a medieval feast. We are hoping to have a trip to a castle to finish off our topic and be able to spot things that we have been learning about
The theme this half term is all about superheroes and space. In literacy we will be writing a letter and a newspaper article. In maths we are learning about fractions, length and height. We will be measuring and learning how to record our results. In PE we are continuing with dance and movement creating our own sequences to the space theme.
