The children have settled so well into their new classes and are trying very hard with their learning. Some have found it more challenging as they are expected to do more, but are now more used to it. I’ve no doubt you have some very tired children at home by the end of the week!
Our 2 year old group are enjoying their sessions in the Early Years building as are our morning nursery children. There’s lots of exciting things going on for everyone.
We have spaces available for Nursery so please just pop into the office for an application form, or any other help you may need.
Welcome back to Monkeys playgroup everyone! We are settling well into our new classroom in the Early Years Unit and catching up with our old friends as well as making some new friends too. Our grown ups are pleased to see us all back safe and well and we are happy to have Mrs Iqbal working with us this year.
This half-term, we are finding out what it is like to come to playgroup and being with other people outside our families. We are following new routines and having fun learning about new things together. We are going to find out more about ourselves and each other too, and have already enjoyed using our hands and fingers to explore paint and other materials and talk about what they feel like. We will also be finding out about the changes taking place around us now that it's Autumn, and look forward to collecting and looking at different leaves before we use them to make our autumn collage pictures. If you know anyone who'd like us join us, please pop into school and ask for an application form!
Welcome to all parents and children from the Early Years Unit. This half term we are working on the topic 'Ourselves'. We are making new friends and learning how to look after ourselves. We are also becoming familiar with the rules and routines in Nursery. In phonics we are listening to different sounds and beginning to differentiate sounds using jolly phonics.
In Maths we are learning to count to 10 and beyond and singing lots of Counting songs. We love listening to different stories and have enjoyed joining in with them in class. We have also enjoyed using the Creative area to do our hand printing-come and see our pictures-we had a fantastic time getting our hands in the paint! We have lots of fun using all the outdoor equipment too .
We have all settled back into Bears class really well and are excited to learn lots of new things. This term our topic is ‘Me and my World’. We are looking at our bodies and learning about how we can keep ourselves healthy, so far we have learnt that we need to eat healthy, exercise and have a good night’s sleep.
Soon we will be exploring the local area, learning about where we live and creating our own maps.
Last week we met ‘Ting’ from the company Artis, she will be doing lots of dance, movement and creative activities with us and we can’t wait.
We have been so busy in Lions! We have really enjoyed exploring our new classroom and the outdoors and getting to know everyone in our school. We have also been staying for lunch, they are delicious and we look forward to them everyday!
This half term, we are learning all about Super Me, Super You and thinking about what makes us special. We have been painting self-portraits, building our houses with the blocks, practicing writing our names and playing in the house in our role-play area. We worked very well together building dens outside and had lots of ideas. We also really enjoyed having our parents in for our Charity Afternoon Tea, the cakes were very tasty!
We are now looking forward to the rest of the half term and learning lots of new things with our friends.
We have had a brilliant start to the term, we have all settled quickly and we get on so well together. We are working really hard and enjoy showing off what we can do. Mrs Asquith-Dolan and Mrs Patel have been very impressed. We are learning all about the circus and have been looking at the different jobs in a circus our favourite it the fire breathers as they are the most shocking.
We have been looking at a Paddington story and using that to pretend to write a postcard to his parents in Peru. We are going to be looking at Circus poems soon. In Mathematics we have been practicing reading and writing numbers and using different resources to represent those numbers. We have been using our exercise time to help us count in 10s and we are going to practice our 5s and 2s too.
The children have settled in very well and made new friends in the Kangaroos class. I look forward to working and growing with the children over this year with lots of laughter, fun and hard work.
This Term our topic is all about 'Me and My World'. We will be learning about our bodies and naming our body parts.
